A couple of days ago I overheard a conversation between two women, I'd say they were in their mid-thirties. It went like this...
Woman 1: Sex with my husband is like being the only adult at a children's party?
Woman 2: Oh, why?
Woman 1: I am never there to have fun and just end up cleaning up the mess afterwards.
Needless to say I was roaring with laughter but in that silent way where you pray you won't get caught. :) xx

Photo - Christmas wrapping...
I made a start today... On all the presents that I have to wrap in time for Christmas. Well, in time for this weekend when they need to be delivered to the in laws.
I love the wrapping part with all the ribbon and the bows.
So what do you think? Good job so far? :) xx

Musings - Not something you see...
Over the last couple of weeks I have been doing my
Christmas shopping, mostly in the high street with a little online for the specifically personalised gifts. I love it, the whole hustle and bustle of it.
Yesterday Halifax turned on it's Christmas lights. We didn't see it, it was too cold and rainy to hang around for the mystery guest who turned out to be a soap star who just happens to live up the road (coughs, cop out). But we did get to see the mini Santa parade.
Have you ever seen Bad Santa? Well this year Halifax was trying to give Billy Bob Thornton a run for his money. A skinny Santa in a tired part missing costume is not that festive!
He was pulled on a sleigh though, by two beautiful Reindeer. Such amazing soulful eyes.
Now in our sleepy Yorkshire town, that is not something you see every day. :) xx

Did I ever tell you that my favourite colour is grey? I love grey eyes, my new grey car and stormy clouds. This morning I am sat in the supermarket car park and I just had to share this view with you. :) xx

MOTW - Keanu Reeves...
It's been a LONG time since I logged a Man Of The Week on the blog. And it isn't that there haven't been any MOTW, there has. I guess I am just lazy.
But yesterday I watched 'The Lake House' with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. He definitely needs a mention.
I have decided to list for you my top six (I struggled to get it down to five) Keanu examples of great viewing pleasure.
In no particular order...
*The Matrix - For that leather jacket.
*Much Ado About Nothing - He really suits a beard.
*Speed - Who doesn't want to be rescued?
*Point Break - Wet Keanu... No explanation needed.
*Constantine - White shirt and black tie combo wins every time.
*The Lake House - Because Keanu all cuddly gets my vote. :) xx
So is he worthy of MOTW status? And what films of his do you love? :) xx

Musings - Mama Kat's Workshop (24th November 2011)
THANKSGIVING.
This week all the prompts at Mama Kat's Writing Workshop are about Thanksgiving. I'm British. My entire knowledge of Thanksgiving is from watching it in the movies.
Family members get together, even though they don't want to, in order to eat stupid amounts of food, saying what they are thankful for, before an argument breaks out and everyone storms off home in the bad weather... surely that's just Christmas? Or every Sunday family meal?
Trust you Americans to get in another celebration! :) But fair play to you, I think it's great to think about what we are thankful for.
So even though I am a Brit I am going to join in... I am drinking coffee and stuffing myself with toast as I type, so I am trying to get into the spirit of things and here is what I am thankful for this year.
* My wonderful family
* My new daughter
* My Virgin Media TV package :)
* My health (though I could be healthier)
*My Amazon iPhone app for buying all my books
and...
* Mama Kat's workshop for inspiring me. :)
I hope I did that right? I am a beginner afterall.
So to all you thanks givers out there...

Observation - Seasonal of confusion...
It's November, right? I mean, I have been Christmas shopping today and I regretted not taking my gloves...
Well, can some one tell my garden that because today I noticed that not only has my Rose tree budded but opened. Global warming has the whole plant world turned about.
Bless it. :) xx

Musings - Almost Christmas
Today we have been to the first Christmas Market of the season. Haworth, home of the Brontes, holds many festive events during the winter months and this weekend as I said saw the main street lined with stalls for their Market.
It was Katharine's first trip to Haworth and I'm not sure what she or her pram thought of the bumpy cobbled street. A man gave her a balloon though so she had a smile on her face.
I had intended to take some nice wintery sparkling pictures but the day is too bright and clear so no lights were lit. Instead I took a few photos that I thought you might like to see of the main street itself, the Church and a festive window display.
:) xx

Musings - Mama Kat's Workshop (17th November 2011)
Write a love letter to an inanimate object...
Dear My Being Erica DVD Box Set,
Since watching you on E4 at the beginning of the year I have been mesmerised. Your characters are interesting, your theme tune catchy, enticing and your title fonts so easy and exciting to read.
When you arrived for my birthday I was so overwhelmed, three series all in one parcel. I was breathless with the anticipation of a tv marathon. I envisioned us curled up on the sofa with coffee, chocolate and an (itchy) blanket.
Who cares that when I turned you over to read your blurb you turned out to be dutch (the wonders of eBay) or that when I eventually put you in my DVD player all your titles were merely a mixtutre of a lack of vowels. I know that it took me four episodes to figure out how to turn off your foreign subtitles but that only made me love you more. I love a challenge, you see.
Your plastic case, your sky blue cover, your shiny disks inside... oh my Being Erica Boxset...
Please be mine for ever (even though technology will change and you will be obsolete)...
All my affection...
Stacy xxx

Yesterday we had teething tantrums and hot flushes so, despite it being November, we resorted to watching television in our vests.
We decided to watch Oscar and Lucinda starring Ralph Fiennes and Cate Blanchet. It was an odd little film that kept us entertained throughout. :) xx

Musings - Mama Kats Workshop ( 10th November 2011)
Today Mama Kat has asked for some snaps. Fall in your neighborhood! Share some Fall pictures that capture the season in your neck of the woods...
Being a Brit and a blonde with pale skin, AUTUMN (what's all this fall business ha ha) is my favourite season. Here are some snaps I took this morning of my neighbourhood, including a leaf blower who popped up behind a tree on cue. :) xx

Musings - Going home...
Well another weekend in Stafford is behind us.
It is great to spend time with them all, I love that since having Katharine I have bizarrely started to get to know my in laws better. The brother in law finally talks to me and he is more entertaining than he realises. All the nieces and the nephew think I am as daft as they come but I kind of love it.
It would great to have them nearer but I guess they would all have to move to Yorkshire as I am too much of a home body to ever leave my moors.
The next time we will all be together will no doubt be Christmas. Ho ho ho not long to go. :) xx

Musings - Mama Kat's Workshop (3rd November 2011)
A day in the life of your pet... how bad do they have it?
So my pooch is a three year old female Border Terrier called Rohan Galadriel Redmond (we are big LOTR fans), official Kennel Club name 'Sweet Little Tinkerbell' (not our doing!).
Here is a day in the life of her...
So today I figured, you know, I'd have a little sleep in but then her alarm went off, the baby chortled through the monitor and his snoring kicked it up a notch. So I dig my claws in his back and steal her warm bit of pillow when she gets up to feed the kid.
Bliss.
I stay still and quiet under the covers as I listen to two blasts of the shower and chatter as the three of them dress and start to head down for breakfast. Today I am unlucky, they remember I'm here and dig my furry ass out of the duvet.
I stand on the doorstep looking out at the rain and then back at him; there is no chance I am peeing in this weather. I stalk pass them, tail wagging on it's own accord, and get in my own bed in the living room. It's not as comfy as a double but it does the trick.
Sleep.
I wake to a people free room, the tv is off so either they snook out or they are camped upstairs. I howl to get their attention and hear a weak 'Ro, shut up!' from somewhere. Good they didn't leave. I head in the direction of the voice having a drink and a sniff on my way and grabbing my toy as I do.
The kid is asleep. If I could jump in that cot, boy that fuzzy chicken would be mine. She is in the library room, stupid amount of books if you ask me. I wag the tail the way she likes it and get an ear tickle in return. I find the blanket laid out for the kid and flop down on it.
More sleep.
I wake as she gathers up the kid for lunch. Great, if I give them my sweetest smile I will get a bowl or two to lick. Score! It's beef and sweet potato. With a satisfied belly I beg with the toy for a few minutes before I waggle to the bed. The tv goes on, Vampire Diaries again. More of a Natural World fan myself.
Yawn, more sleep.
A dog's life is great. Half past five and he gets home. We stand on the doorstep again, nope still raining. I watch half interested and half disgusted as they eat chicken salad for tea. I wander to my bowl, dog food? Really? After a while I sigh dramatically and start on my chew.
More drivel on the tv but I put up with it as I get a bit of cuddle time. The kid yanks my ear, leg, collar, you name it but I secretly love it. I watch Supernatural, Glee and some UFC and before you know it it's eleven thirty.
We stand at the doorstep and it's still raining but I go out anyway before my insides burst. I watch the kids final bottle, watch them get in the bed and then I jump in. After a couple of minutes getting the pillow comfy and pushing them both to the edge of the bed I sigh contented.
And sleep...
