Observation - Stadium suave...

Something amused me today,  probably more than it should...

I had the opportunity to be at The Shay Stadium, the home of the Shaymen. Now it's no Old Trafford, the stands are aged and half built and the new conference centre is a bit on the dull side.

But then I got in the tiny lift (I had a trolley! I promise I usually walk up a single flight of stairs) to find it completely clad in a golden shiny antique pine. It tickled me that I had swerved around the many pot holes in the car park and eyed scaffolding that was rusted it had been there so many years...

Yet the lift, that would hold 8 people max, has been kitted out for decadence and a dated 1980s style.

Bizarre right?  Or bizarre that I noticed?
Either way it amused me enough to take a photo to share... :) xx

Sunday we visited the in laws and has a wonderful time in the garden. Katharine wheeled around the doll...

Musings - PART 7 Year of Adventure...

Part 7! Can you believe it, that is over half the year done and we have thus far managed to achieve our goal of one thing a month.
July saw us at The Grand theatre in Leeds for my idea of hell.

Avenue Q! A tale about puppets. You remember I have an irrational fear of puppets right?

I must admit I was dreading it but the show was fantastic. So well written, excellently sung and acted and I was even able to look past the fear and thoroughly enjoy myself. I would recommend it, google it and see what it is all about yourself.

As with all our theatre visits we have been unable to take photos during the performance so here are a few of the theatre and one of The Arcade.

Musings - Me with a smile...

There are not many pictures I like of myself, I am sure I am not the only one who feels like hiding when they see a camera being waved in their direction.

So when I do find one I like I use it for everything! Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, MySpace... You name it!

And I love this one...


But the amount of puddings in front of me will definitely have to be cropped ha ha. :) xx

This photograph is of a bag from the Disney store...


Inside it hides a stuffed dog of the Lady and the Tramp variety just waiting to jump out.

You see, on Friday, my baby turns one!!!! And as she loves both dogs and Disney we thought it only fitting that this bag should be nestled amongst all her other gifts.

I can't wait to see her face... :) xx

Musings - Mama Kat's Workshop (1st March 2012)

This week Mama Kat has opened my eyes to how untidy I am.

You see I chose writing prompt 3) Your chair. We all have ‘our spot’ in the house…show us where you plant yourself and what is it about that spot that makes it your favorite?

And this is my spot...


And I love it because...

1. I have a wine coloured leather sofa.
2. My laptop and notebooks are only an arm stretch away.
3. I have a variety of DVDs and books on my shelves for viewing and reference.
4. My iPod and headphones have their own little place.
5. There is space for a cuppa.
6. I am next to the window for some good people watching.

I could go on and on but I am writing this while the potatoes boil, I do so love to multitask, and my aim was to post while I cooked.

I know that it's messy and unorganised but it's my spot and no matter how much the husband nags... It probably will remain that way forever. :) xx

Photo - Cake mistake...

Today I practiced making a birthday cake for Katharine. I made a Victoria Sponge and added pink food colouring, used my new giant cup cake silicone mould and had strawberry fondant for decoration.




Everything failed!

The cake didn't rise and even though the mix looked like a raspberry it still finished out yellow.

Getting it out of the mould made it fall apart and adding the fondant just made it look like a lopsided pink mess.

It's a good job I have five more weeks to practice!! :) xx

I can't spell, sometimes my mind goes completely blank at the simplest of words. Vowels in the middle of words are my particular problem.

So I make up little rules and snippets to remember...

Like stationery; I always tell myself that the e in the middle is for envelope, that way I don't end up standing still... If you know what I mean.

So I am wondering, what tricks do you use to remember the tricky ones? :) xx
